The fibers are intentionally oriented horizontally during production, resulting in a very interesting pattern.
Because the wood is prone to splitting when cut horizontally against the grain, the manufacturing process requires skill.
It took about three times longer than usual to carefully carve it.

・To make it easy to hold, the shape is designed to be widest slightly closer to the tip than the center.

・The surface has been sanded with grits ranging from coarse to 600. This gives it a moderate sheen, allowing you to enjoy the natural texture and aroma of the wood.

・The surface has been cut and checked repeatedly to ensure there are no irregularities.

・The finish uses Kinu Oil. The main ingredient is rice-derived, tasteless, odorless, and gentle on the skin.

・By alternating sanding vertically and horizontally, the sanding marks are made less noticeable.

★ Fishtail Palm
Evergreen tree of the Caryota genus in the palm family.
Scientific name: Caryota urens
Specific gravity is 0.9-1, making it durable.
As the name suggests, it is a houseplant that looks like a peacock spreading its wings.
It has no annual rings and is a wood that can be said to be an aggregate of fibers.
Used for flooring, canes, knife handles, and Buddhist prayer beads.

Can be changed to a mechanical pencil.
With mechanical pencil hardware, the weight will be reduced by approximately 5g.
